Recently designated a National Park, the Knysna area offers some of the most stunning scenery in South Africa. In addition to vast areas of indigenous forest, there are breathtaking lagoon and mountain views, spectacular cliff walks, pristine beaches, tranquil lakes and meandering rivers. The area offers a huge choice of outdoor activities, from sailing, cycling, hiking and surfing, to bird and whale watching, photography, boat trips and game drives. There are also excellent township tours, craft markets and cultural experiences. Golf addicts will be in paradise as many of the Cape's finest courses are right on the doorstep. Other famous attractions in the area include the Knysna Elephant Park, Birds of Eden, Monkeyland, Tenikwa Wild Cat and Meerkat Awareness Centre, Eagle Encounters and Ocean Safaris. The Plettenberg Bay and Buffalo Hills game reserves, Bramon Winery, Nature’s Valley and Tsitsikamma canopy tours are all within an hour’s drive.
